Learn how we distribute free period supplies in the Greater Cincinnati area and how you can get involved!
How do we get free period supplies to families in need?
Individuals, businesses, churches, community groups (you name it!) all donate period supplies to help lighten the load for their neighbors and friends.
The demand for period supplies is far greater than the product donations we receive, so we use donated dollars to purchase any remaining supplies we need to fill our monthly orders.
We work exclusively with local partner agencies who request period supplies each month through our online portal. This allows us to easily track the demand for free period supplies and get them to those who need them most.
We wouldn’t exist without the volunteers who put in over 400 hours each month to make sure our orders are packed with dignity and ready on time.
Our period supply program can act as an incentive for each agency’s ongoing case-management programs. After pickup, our period kits head back to offices for sorting and distribution.
Social service agencies meet regularly with their clients for monthly appointments which is when our donations are distributed.
Period banks supply basic period supplies to local communities through partner social service agencies. This approach limits unnecessary duplication of services, reduces administrative expenses, and works collaboratively to solve a basic human need at the community level for those in-need.
If a client needs period supplies, they often have many other needs as well. Local social service agencies that offer a multitude of programs are best qualified to meet these needs and to become Tidal Babe Period Bank (TBPB) Partner Agencies. By providing free period supplies, we are giving an incentive to partner agencies to keep menstruators coming back to social programs that can help them break the cycle of poverty.
Hearing about local menstruators skipping work or school because they can’t afford period supplies breaks our heart. While Tidal Babe Period Bank was born based on this need, our prior success running Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank gave us the foundation to create Tidal Babe Period Bank. Our success distributing diapers guided us on a similar journey as we work to provide basic health products to those in need. We’ve made huge strides educating the public about this need, but we still need your help! Take action today so we work together to end period poverty in our community.
