Donate & Volunteer At Fly & Dry Basic Needs Bank

You Can Make A Difference in Cincinnati!

Fly & Dry Basic Needs Bank is an all-hands-on-deck organization. We rely on the help of numerous local volunteers to get our diapers out the door every month and onto the bottoms of the babies who need them. If you live in the Greater Cincinnati area and are passionate about helping children in need, consider joining our team of dedicated volunteers!

Volunteers wrapping free period supplies that are distributed by Fly & Dry Basic Needs Bank.

When you come to wrap diapers at the warehouse you can expect to do any of the following:

    • Count new diaper inventory
    • Unload diaper shipments
    • Sort, organize, and wrap diapers
    • Assemble period supply kits
    • Help with administrative tasks like database entry
    • Fill orders for monthly distributions to partner agencies

Wrapping and counting diapers can be done sitting or standing. You should ideally be able to lift up to 20 pounds if you’re doing a standing job.

Please let us know in advance if you have accessibility needs – we have something for everyone!

Please wear close-toed shoes and comfortable clothing that allows to you move. (It’s not manual labor, but you’re going to be moving around.)

If you want to enhance your volunteer experience, consider the following:

    • Bring diapers to donate and wrap! (We always need sizes 4, 5, 6, and pull-ups!)
    • Bring your favorite K-cup or coffee pod to brew in the Keurig!
    • Bring your favorite snack! (We’ll provide the water and sometimes a few snacks but bringing your own is always appreciated.)
    • Bring period products! (Pads, tampons, liners, menstrual cups)

Student Volunteers

We welcome students to Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank! Consider us when looking for rewarding ways to fulfill your community service hour requirements for school and clubs. With our online volunteer signups, tracking and verifying your hours has never been easier! We offer several evening and Saturday morning volunteer times each month to work around your school day, but they fill up fast so don’t wait till the last minute!

Young Volunteers

We welcome kids of all ages to the Sweet Cheeks warehouse. Guardians–you’re the best judge of your younger kiddos’ capacity to work at our warehouse for a couple of hours. We have a small play area to keep younger kids occupied (and contained if you’ve got some really little ones!) while you save the world one clean diaper at a time. Kids under the age of 16 must be accompanied with a youth to adult ratio of 3:1.

There are many ways your younger children can get involved outside the warehouse too. Whether it’s organizing a diaper drive in your neighborhood or school or an Empty-Your-Piggybank change drive to collect loose coins for Sweet Cheeks, it’s never too early to start teaching our kids how to serve others and their community. We’d also love to come speak to your Daisy Troop, Girl Scouts, Cub or Boy Scouts, church youth group, or other group of youngsters about diaper need in the Greater Cincinnati community and how they can help to eliminate it.

Group Volunteers

Bringing your group in to volunteer is a great way to get involved with our organization and give back to your community! We regularly host 2-3 hour private volunteer events for your school, work, church or club. Giving back to your local community is a great team-building activity!

Young Volunteers

Kids are always welcome at Fly & Dry but we rely on their guardian(s) to help us gauge how they can help. Not only can we keep them busy with light work, we also have a small play area to keep younger kids occupied (and contained if you’ve got some really little ones!). Kids under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a guardian and maintain a youth to adult ratio of 3:1.
