“We always have teens who are nervous to ask for period products from a foster parent. They were just brought to a new foster home with a stranger- and are nervous to ask for things. When we can give them period products that help provide for their needs, we can eliminate another personal barrier they have while adjusting to a new home.”

“CT is a senior citizen who has custody of her grandchild. She has struggled periodically with the cost of raising a new baby on a fixed social security income. Due to these struggles she sought out assistance in services from Brighton Center. She was receiving food on a monthly basis, once she found out she could receive diapers as well this allowed CT to manage her budget. Access to these critical resources has allowed CT to spend the time she needs and be her grandchild’s first teacher.”

“One of our clients stopped by to receive diapers and clothing for their baby. While she was there, a volunteer offered a period pack. The young lady whispered that this was definitely a need but she was too embarrassed to ask. She had been using napkins from a local fast food restaurant that she had picked up to protect her clothing. Receiving that little white box of pads was an absolute blessing to this mom and she was very grateful for the respect she was shown.”

“Recently, a mom with two children under two years old came to one of our partner agencies for help after leaving a domestic violence situation. Mom did not have a job and was moving in with her parents who were on a fixed income and unable to help her financially. Providing diapers for her children was just one more stressor and mom was at the breaking point. When we told her about the diapers and period supplies we could provide for her free every month she started to cry and said, “You don’t know what this means to me, thank you so much!”

“Jan has been getting diapers for nearly two years. “It was nice to have the extra support with diapers each month. It was also wonderful to have the help of transitioning my daughter from diapers to using the regular potty, which has been about a 90% success for us [now that she’s almost 3]. My daughter did a lot better after receiving the potty training kit. The Petey Potty book really encouraged her to poop on the potty. It has been so good to have this extra support.”

“Family transitioned into shelter mid-February. Family had been sleeping under the bridge and was escorted to shelter by the Cinti Police. Upon arrival, kids were visibly malnourished and exhausted. The family consisted of mom, dad, and three children ages 6, 4, 2. Both the 2 & 4 year old were still in diapers. Having a diaper supply on-demand is crucial in the lives of families residing at Bethany House.”
