Join Tidal Babe Period Bank, a program of COVERD Greater Cincinnati, to learn more about period poverty and how to fight for period equity. We are thrilled to host Jennifer Gaines, Manager of National Engagement at the Alliance for Period Supplies, as our keynote speaker!
We’ll discuss how to combat negative period stigma; how lack of access to period supplies effects menstruators; current legislation being introduced to Congress; and other ways you can get involved.
After the keynote presentation, stick around for a panel Q&A with special guests, networking, raffles, and more.

Our Keynote Speaker
As the National Engagement Manager for the Alliance for Period Supplies, a program of the National Diaper Bank Network, Jennifer amplifies the organization’s national presence, serving as a spokesperson and champion for menstrual equity. She collaborates with corporate sponsors, including founding sponsor U by Kotex, as well as national organizations, policymakers, and key influencers to ensure access to essential basic needs. Her leadership has been instrumental in expanding national awareness campaigns, strengthening strategic partnerships, and supporting the passage of menstrual equity bills across the country.
With more than a decade of experience in public health education, Jennifer has made an impact both in the U.S. and internationally. As a Planned Parenthood Global Ambassador, she traveled to Kenya, working alongside reproductive and sexual health NGOs to expand youth initiatives and behavioral health programs. She also played a key role in advancing community-based education and advocacy efforts at Planned Parenthood of Southern New England.
Jennifer holds a B.S. in Public Health and Health Promotion from Southern Connecticut State University. Beyond her professional work, she is a proud wife and devoted mother of three wonderful boys, balancing her passion for advocacy with a deep commitment to family and community.
Guest Panelists
Brittani Gray, a proud native of Cincinnati, Ohio, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Central State University. Transitioning from the realm of teaching, Brittani pursued her passion for hairstyling, graduating from the Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology. Today, she is a owner, freelance hair stylist and instructor of Be Natural Hair Studio.
Rachel Moon (she/her) is the Director of Community Engagement at Tidal Babe Period Bank (a program of COVERD Greater Cincinnati), and is also the staff liaison to the Advocacy Committee of the Board. Rachel came to COVERD after working over a decade in the nonprofit world, mainly at art institutions and museums in the Cincinnati area. She has worked as an educator, curator, and/or consultant at the Cincinnati Art Museum, National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Cincinnati Museum Center, and more.
After graduating from Northern Kentucky University with a Master’s in Public History she went on to teach museum studies courses at Wilmington College. In 2018, she curated an exhibit about food and economic injustice at the Dayton International Peace Museum. Later that year, she was awarded “Conflict Resolution Educator of the Year” from Ohio State’s University’s Conference on Conflict Resolution Education. This conference brings together hundreds of educators and scholars – including diplomats from the United Nations, Peace Corps, and Universities from around the world.
Jay DeFazio (he/him) is a licensed educator, artist, and writer. An independent consultant, he creates courses and workshops on a variety of topics from LGBTQ+ diversity in the workplace to allyship, arts integration, creativity, communication and storytelling through art.
As a trans activist and speaker, Jay has worked with many organizations in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky metro area including the Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati Opera, US Bank, the Art Academy of Cincinnati, NKy Pride Center, SOS Art, and countless local high schools across the area.
In 2020 Jay received ArtWorks’ Emerging Artist Award and launched “Inside Out,” a transgender visibility and empowerment project that still continues today. Working in small groups or virtually, Jay teaches trans and non-binary individuals to create self-portraits from a wide variety of art materials. The finished works are exhibited permanently in the project’s online gallery at insideout-transart.org.
His forthcoming book “You Only Live Twice: A Memoir in Two Genders” will be released on June 3rd and is available for pre-order on Amazon.
Skylar Davis is the founder of Period Y’all, a nonprofit initiative dedicated to fighting menstrual inequity in Kentucky by providing free menstrual and hygiene products through pop-ups, partnerships, and public schools. Beyond activism and digital organizing, Skylar is a fine art photographer and mixed media artist based in Louisville, KY, using her work to advocate for equity and preserve Kentucky’s untold stories.
